"Julie approaches every assignment with the attitude of 'Put me in coach --- I'm ready to play!"

COMMUNICATIONS EXPERIENCE
WCAX-TV - CBS Affiliate in Burlington, Vermont
Morning Anchor/Reporter
2013-2017
Connecting with an audience is the key to launching a new show and that's just what our crew did on "The Weekend" morning show. Within six months, the show expanded to two hours and has been a fan favorite in the ratings ever since. Whether faced with breaking news coverage of a wrong way driving killing five teenagers on a Sunday morning or baking with Peggy from the Kids Baking Championship, we did it all with empathy, joy and the feeling that we were at the kitchen table just catching up.

Main Anchor/Producer/Reporter
2010-2013
Multitasking is the name of the game for me as the 6pm & 11pm Anchor and Producer. When I first get in, you'll find me reviewing reporters' scripts, writing stories for the news, doing promos, coming up with story ideas for 11, working with video editors, keeping up with hot topics with fans on Facebook and if there's breaking news ... I help manage that coverage too. Where is it, how bad is it, which reporter is going, will we be live? I'm a storyteller at heart and whether it's telling a story through the stacking of a newscast, helping a reporter write a stronger lead or getting the latest discussion going for content at 11 ... I'm energized by my work!
Miles Perret Cancer Services - Lafayette, Louisiana
Public Relations Director
2008-2010
Spending a year and a half working on behalf of families facing a cancer diagnosis changed my life. I helped launch a fundraising campaign in schools called "Change for Miles" that raised more than $60,000 in the first year and took a stagnant website and social media sites and turned them into a vibrant, interactive vehicles to spread the message about all of the free services.
KATC-TV - ABC Affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana
Main Anchor/Reporter
1998-2008
Being on the team that got KATC to #1 was exciting and rewarding. As the Main Anchor, I jumped out of bed on a Saturday morning when my News Director called saying a train derailed and she couldn't reach the weekend anchor. I was live all day breaking news about evacuations and clean up. I was also live the night Hurricane Katrina evacuees, by the thousands, lined the highway with nowhere to go. The next day a shelter opened up in Lafayette and I spent the next two weeks live on the anchor desk covering the disaster as it unfolded. WWNY-TV - ABC Affiliate in Watertown, New York
Weekend Anchor/Reporter
1996-1998
After spending every weekend of my Spring semester senior year at Syracuse University driving an hour North to intern, I was hired a few days before graduation. Having my scripts "red inked" by experienced anchors and learning the ropes of reporting from a top notch photographer helped build a foundation that I still rely on today! During coverage of a massive ice storm, I uncovered a price gouging scheme on generators that led to a New York State Attorney General's investigation. That gave me my first taste of investigative reporting. I also won my first reporting award for the series, "The Secret Side of Adoption," about adult adoptees and birth parents looking for each other.
